The District's water quality monitoring program is 30 years old and has created one of the largest collections of data in the Great Lakes. Take a voyage on Lake Michigan on a water quality research vessel called the Pelagos. For 30 years, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) has taken thousands of samples of the lake and its rivers to help determine the most cost effective ways to clean up pollution with strong science. MMSD has its own certified lab where samples are analyzed and results are entered into one of the largest water quality data bases in the Great Lakes area. |
